Bloaters are walking bombs, waiting to pop or actively seeking it. They appear as walking bloated bodies, deformed beyond recognition.
Tactical Analysis
Bloaters are suicide spawner units, with no attacks of their own. At range, they expulse Poppers. If they happen to get into melee range, they spontaneously detonate. Whichever way they die, they always leave one or two more Poppers.
Their health pool is unusually large for a suicide monster, making triggering their suicide attack a viable alternative to shooting them until they die. This is even more true for elite bloaters.
Trivia
According to an alternative taxonomy by community member KineticRX, this monster is called Popper, while its explosive minion is called Pipper.
